The key fob fails to turn in the ignition or open the doors, despite having a fresh battery. Purchase a new key fob from the dealership?

I drove to a restaurant, dined, and upon returning to the vehicle, the fob failed to unlock the doors or activate the ignition switch. I installed a new battery and saw the red fob light flash, indicating that the battery is functional. The outcome remains unchanged. The inner dashboard lock and unlock buttons are functional. Are there any other potential causes other from the key fob malfunction? It is a keyless entry fob with a detachable metal key blade.

Should I contact the dealer to get a new key fob? Should I replace the functional blade?
 
First, examine the key and the induction coil of the EIS. Subsequently, either get two keys from a locksmith or fix the EIS and create a spare key.
 
The key fob is inoperative for locking or unlocking the doors. What is the role of the EIS? If the EIS is engaged, how can I inspect the coil?
 
Thank you for your assistance. What is the process for assessing and rectifying the EIS? I believe the EIS is programmed to the VIN, hence I cannot just purchase a used replacement. Should I get a new EIS from the dealer?
 
Do you possess a scanner? Commence by ensuring effective communication with the EIS. To operate the key, a functional EIS that is powered and a corresponding, operational key are required. Defective or absent key batteries may occur, since the power required for key reading is supplied by the induction coil inside the EIS. A simple tester is available to determine whether you are receiving induction power. I misinterpreted the first message; if the key fails to open the doors after battery repair, it is likely not the induction coil. Nonetheless, it may still represent either a critical or EIS concern.
 
Should I dispatch my key and EIS Ignition Switch Module to them for a $159 diagnostic fee and a $350 repair cost?
