Continuously receiving a Drivetrain: Check notification A warning will soon appear on the iDrive system. Verify the numbers; all I am receiving is 20A503. Turbocharger Coolant Pump: Signal Incongruity.

Inquiring whether anybody has encountered this issue before and what measures were taken to rectify it. I have verified the coolant levels in both reservoirs, and they are both at the optimal level. I can erase the code, but it reappears after driving about 25-30 miles.

Where is the auxiliary coolant pump placed in the engine compartment for replacement? I have examined the realoem schematics but have not yet located the pump, since I have not conducted a thorough search beyond removing the cover and cowling.

The vehicle is a 2017 340xi, by the way.

Assistance would be much appreciated! Thank you!

The indication of an improbable signal may stem from either a wiring or computer module issue, or a malfunction of the pump itself. A coolant leak from the pump or its vicinity may have caused corrosion in the electrical connection.

The pump is situated underneath the intake manifold, next to cylinder 4, in the upper left quadrant of the oil filter housing. A bracket is affixed to the block and secured to that bracket with two pins and C-clips. A rubber hose extends to the coolant neck, while a metal pipe traverses the rear of the cylinder head to the turbocharger. Changing it would likely be rather difficult without removing the intake manifold, however it may still be feasible.

The turbocharger coolant pump is distinct from the auxiliary pump circuit. The secondary pump is exclusively designated for the intercooler inside the intake manifold and the air conditioning condenser. If you get a coolant code referencing your turbo, it pertains to your primary expansion tank and your mechanically powered water pump. The data provided by BMW is somewhat perplexing; nonetheless, a thorough examination of your engine compartment will allow you to follow the pathway of the secondary expansion tank if desired.

I have invested much effort understanding the operation of the secondary coolant circuit, particularly about the expansion tank and the electric pump due to a leak I encountered. I have examined all the schematics, identified each pipe, and confirmed that nothing from the secondary tank/pump connects to the turbo.

That is a valid observation; my article pertained to the auxiliary pump inside the primary circuit for the turbocharger. This is supplementary to the primary water pump located at the front of the block in the main circuit. The auxiliary loop has an auxiliary pump for the charge air cooler. There are, in fact, three water pumps.

I believe it will indicate an auxiliary pump charge air cooler; I have seen such errors before when my intercooler was compromised and that pump operated without fluid. The turbocharger pump is the subject I previously mentioned, and I believe the codes pertain to it.

Apologies for not responding immediately to you. I saw in the first post, without verifying its date, that he referenced the auxiliary system. I intended to clarify things for him without being aware that he had commented in 2022. laughing my face off

Correction: Additionally, I discovered today that they possess three water pumps instead of two. My life is miserable.
