Retrieval of OBD1 Codes (Vehicles Manufactured Prior to 1995)

Self-retrieval of OBD1 codes for GM cars from 1983 to 1995

The designation indicates that owners of GM vehicles manufactured before to 1995 may independently get diagnostic codes. Consequently, upon activation of the "check engine light," one can obtain the code within minutes if desired.

Displayed on the left is an image of the connection used for retrieving the GM OBD1 code.

Upon locating the adapter connection, using a jumper wire (refer to the red wire above) to connect terminals A and B. Next, turn the key to the 'on' position without starting the engine. Observe the check engine light display the code(s).

INSTANCE: CODE 12: one prolonged flash and two brief flashesCODE 13: one prolonged flash and three brief flashes.

Note: Code 12 is often the first code received and should be disregarded.Examine the code subsequent to code 12; that is what you want.

I discovered that webpage some time ago, however I am seeing error 72 related to the gear selector switch circuit. Where is it situated on the truck? I own a 1994 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado half-ton pickup truck.

Require assistance I replaced the water pump and coolant sensor on my 1994 Caprice V8. Now, the temperature gauge reads extremely low, near zero. I installed a new temperature sender, but there was no improvement. I grounded the wire from the gauge sender and discovered that the gauge indicates full hot.

Although somewhat tangential, is there a method to provide password protection for the computer inside the vehicle? I need a password protection mechanism for a speed governor to avert any unauthorized modifications.

Concerning the 2009 Silverado:

I started the truck today due to many prospective buyers, and the "Service Engine" light has illuminated, accompanied by the "Stabilitrack" and "ABS" warnings.

You may do your own study, since you believe others are being dishonest, however I will provide a summary of my findings:

This is a low-power mode unrelated to the Stabilitrak or ABS; rather, it indicates a probable operational issue. Recall that the Hyundai's ESC indicator illuminated due to the malfunctioning taillights.
My research indicates that this issue is prevalent among trucks from Chevy during this period, with the most frequent issues being the need for a computer re-flash or throttle body replacement; both of which are included within the powertrain warranty due to their impact on emissions.

Additionally. The gas may be outdated and failing to provide the appropriate O2 rating for the computer, which is the most probable explanation.

I retrieved two codes from my OBD1 after establishing a connection, namely numbers 32 and 83. I own a new ETC and EGR valve; yet, the error codes persist. It has been suggested that code 83 may indicate a malfunctioning 2-3 shift solenoid, although I have not seen any associated issues. Can anybody assist me?

Although this occurred some time ago, the information in this code list is inaccurate. Code 72 for this truck pertains to the vehicle speed sensor.

The one diagnostic code that repeatedly up for my 1992 Silverado is code 12. However, I am aware that the system is not functioning normally. Does anybody have any recommendations? I would be very grateful.
