Q:
Rebuilt vs Salvage vs Clean Title Explained
Hey everyone, starting this thread since it’s one of the most common questions we get. Quick breakdown for anyone new here:
- Clean Title: car has never been declared a total loss by an insurer. No major accident/flood/theft history on record. This is what most buyers want.
- Salvage Title: insurer decided repair costs exceeded the car’s value (usually 70-90% depending on state), so it’s “totaled.” Not legal to drive until repaired and re-inspected.
- Rebuilt Title; a salvage car that’s been repaired, passed a state inspection, and is now legal to drive again.
Curious to hear from people who’ve actually dealt with these does the price difference make it worth the hassle?
